How flexible is working on Orka Works?

Our app covers the entire UK and offers a range of different jobs in different regions. Demand can be a bit different from location to location and from city to city. The app allows you to filter by both city and region if you want and can extend your search.

At the moment, we have jobs in security and cleaning. We have big plans to expand into more sectors, and you can even tell us which ones would be the most relevant for you.

This depends a lot on the documentation you can provide and how quickly, but everything from a few days up to a month. We completely understand that every situation is different. If you have any concerns or questions about passing your background and right to work checks, you can contact our team.

To prove your right to work, we need to see a few different documents:
  • A passport, a biometric resident’s permit or a residency permit.
  • Proof of address. This could be your UK driving licence, a letter from a government branch, a council tax bill, a bank statement or a utility bill dated within the last 3 months.
  • You will need an SIA Licence if you are applying for security work. Don’t worry if you haven’t got an SIA License, you can still work shifts that don’t have the requirement of an SIA License. 
  • Documents that prove your employment history. These could be payslips, P45s, P60s for each year you have worked, redundancy letter (confirming the end of a period of employment), contract of employment (to show the start of employment), bank statements (to show regular payment of wages/salary), proof of long service, company identification, any correspondence from the company or proof of NI contributions. This could also be your 5-year HMRC employment history.

Once you’ve been verified and gone through the security checks, you can navigate to the Find Work page in the app. The app will automatically show you jobs in the area, but you can also change your location by clicking on it in the app and even choose how many miles from your current location you want to extend your search.

Orka Works has its own payment system called Instant Pay within the app. This will transfer your salary to your account on the first Wednesday of every month. Instant Pay also allows you to withdraw up to 50% of your salary right after working a shift, should you want to.

Orka Works has teamed up with some of the big names across security, facilities management and cleaning, such as G4S, Wilson James and ICC. We also have clients of different sizes and with different specialities. You will have the opportunity to work for these companies, but still choose the shifts and hours you want. This will also depend heavily on the companies that operate in your area.

For security roles, you’ll need a valid SIA licence. For cleaning roles, you will not need any specific licence, but you still need to have the right to work in the UK.
